Hi Y’all! It’s been a while! I took some time away from my computer and phone this summer to spend time with my family. It was a much needed break. But now I’m ready for school to start and to get back to work. I was really looking forward to this time when I didn’t have much work stuff going on, and I could just spend quality time with my son. Then after about two weeks (or less), I ran out of things to do with my two-year-old, and I was ready for it to be August. HA! Who out there can relate? Seriously though. In Texas it’s 100 degrees by 9 am, and we’re stuck inside watching Toy Story for the 18th million time.
Lately I feel like I’ve been missing my “me time”, and I wanted to get back to writing and sharing our stories. My goal is to do something a little different this time around. Hence, the relaunch. I get a lot of questions on social media about random topics- toys, hair products, wine, house decor, recipes, etc. This is going to be my place where I answer all that. Plus, share a little bit of our crazy lives along the way.
One of the new categories I’m adding on here each week is called “My Prime”. I sort of stole the idea from my friend Kristin Gill. She a fantastic follow on IG @kristin.gill. She does a weekly post called “What the UPS man is bringing”. It’s all cute clothes she’s ordered. Well since I only where lululemon and Rent the Runway, I figured I’ll share with you all the crap I bought on Amazon Prime that week. Let’s be honest, that’s where 95% of my income goes. This week I bought a trampoline and a robot vacuum. Next week it’ll be something random like pee pads and Kerastase heat protector. I’ll share more on the vacuum in a bit. But hopefully that’ll be something fun. Plus I like seeing what everyone else is buying.
Thank you guys for coming along in our journey! I share a lot more stuff on my Instagram as well, so you can follow me at @krisbudden
QUESTIONS FROM THIS WEEK:
— MY LOW-FAT CROCK POT LASAGNA: I shared my love for crockpot lasagna yesterday on Instagram and got a ton of questions about the recipe. So here you go:
Ingredients: 1.5 lb ground sirloin (or ground turkey);
30 oz. tomato sauce
8 oz. tomato paste
1 box of oven-ready or no-bake lasagna noodles
1 bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
Brown your meet in a pan. Once it’s cooked, add in the tomato sauce and paste. Next, add in seasonings. I don’t ever measure, because I’m too lazy to get out the measuring spoons, so I just go by taste. If you kids like veggies, you can throw in some mushrooms, onions, green peppers, etc.
Once that’s all cooked, start layering in the crockpot. Layer of meat sauce, noodles, cheese. Rinse and repeat three times.
Set the crockpot on low for about 4-5 hours. Enjoy! Hopefully the crockpot didn’t bring up any emotional feeling about Jack Pearson. (This is Us reference for those lost by that).
–-MY PRIME THIS WEEK:
That dang puppy we got sure is cute. But she also sheds like none other. I vacuum twice a day. No joke! The dog hair on my new, dark hardwood floors drives me insane. I’ll try and relax on the couch, and all I see if dog hair. So I bit the bullet and bought a robot vacuum. I’m been waiting until I saw a sale pop up, and yesterday I got one for almost have off on Amazon. I’ve been debating if these actually work. It gets here tomorrow, so I’ll let you know.
The other totally random thing I bought last night is this straw hat. Mario wears it to teach tennis. He says it’s a life saver. It’s not the most fashionable thing, but it keeps you cool and it’s only $19.
