Happy weekend y’all! I hope you’re out enjoying some free time. It’s only a high of 96 degrees here in Dallas today (yes, I said only), which means maybe we can venture outdoors after 11am!
When I started this blog, I said I was going to post about some of my favorite women and bloggers I follow. I’ve been so bad about that recently. I’m going to get better with it. And that starts with this post.
Meet Kristin Gill www.GrowingUpGill.com She’s an adorable mom of three- Gant, Stella, and Beau. She’s super funny and fashionable. She writes about everything from shopping in the maternity section at Target to her obsession with Sonic ice (she even has a special ice machine in her house that makes Sonic ice).
When I decided I wanted to start a blog, she was the one I turned to for advice. WARNING: She’s pretty much the most adorable person you’ll ever meet, and her kids are just as cute. So if you can get over the jealousy factor, she’s pretty awesome.
What I love about Kristin is she is so real and honest (side note- we were actually sorority sisters). They live in a small town in Missouri where their days are filled with Smoothie King runs and Target trips. Her blog and Instagram are filled great mom/life-hacks, inexpensive clothing finds, etc. In fact, my new Nooga yogurt obsession came from her.
The best part is that Kristin is incredibly open about her struggles as a mom. Her youngest Beau was born with a cleft lip and palate. She shares about what it was like getting the diagnosis and eventually going through multiple surgeries (his first at only four months old). #cleftstrong . I was pregnant with Jace when Kristin was going through this, and I can remember thinking how scared I would be if I was in that situation. I’m sure she was, but she didn’t show it. You can read about Beau’s journey here. He’s also so stinking cute that you just want to nibble on his little cheeks through the iPhone screen.
Kristin is the kind of mom we all strive to be. She’s probably mortified that I wrote that! But it’s true. And it’s more than just the dance parties she has with her kids. She is every mom’s biggest cheerleader. She’s always one to send you a message about a great idea or how she can relate to what you’re going through. It’s not always easy finding moms that are that encouraging- Kristin’s one of them.
